Under the Ice EP

by Cybin

Bruck Out 04:27

We're incredibly honoured to welcome Cybin to the Machinist Music family. The Bristol OGs caught our ears back in 1999 with their iconic amen killer "Roller" on MC GQ’s Emcee Recordings, and as you'll hear, they still have that magic touch! It’s an honour to release their outstanding Under the Ice EP, which epitomizes their minimal, effective approach to creating top-shelf dancefloor weaponry.

The title track captivates from the first note with mysterious atmospherics and a hint of funk. Twisted mids and heavy subs punctuate a rhythmic head-nodder. “Under the Ice” is soulful breakbeat pressure for the discerning DnB enthusiast.

“Bruck Out” demonstrates total mastery of the breakbeat. Vibey atmospherics and a haunting vocal hook envelop exquisitely-chopped amen breaks atop a relentless reese bass. Modern execution of a classic sound made possible only by blood, sweat and, years.

Continuing the ice-cold vibe, “Frozen Cities” draws the ear with infectious pads only to deliver a heavy sub-bass payload. A snappy rolling break, characteristic of the restrained veteran producers completes the package for an undeniable dancefloor weapon.

The final onslaught comes in the form of “Praying Mantis”, a tune ruthless enough to devastate the most hardcore breakbeat jungle crew. Nasty reese bass and twisted switching breaks tear a hole through the reality of 2021. Lighters up!
